do you think it's also 2000 classic compatible ?

that card reader would NOT be compatible with the classic 2000 since it doesnt have an internal ide channel.

someone wanted to know if this model worked...

you cannot take the card out while the mp is running, or place the card in the slot.

they look pretty sweet, but id need to be able to change cards while the mp is on so i can find samples i did way back....

bit of a set back really, but at least you can store more on one than you can on zips!

zips are all good

^^^ that is true. if anything, i already have a external zip drive, so working with both would do well.

but the site states "Hot swappable & bootable, ATAPI compliant" so you should be all good.

ATA to standard 40-pin IDE interface..
40-pin IDE connector and a 4-pin power connector.
Optional 44pin-to-40pin cable is not included.
2k doesn't have this, so no.

Hot swappable & bootable, ATAPI compliant
Yeah, u can remove/insert the card
anytime you want.

having trouble installing my card reader. i checked the jumper settings and there are only two possibilities, and that wasnt it. might be my power cord although th ide cable already has a power to connect to the card reader.
when i turn on my mpc it says it is loading although it has no files to load, and when i try to load it up it says "no floppy" and when i change it to "f-rom" it too then says no "f-rom". someone please help me out.
If i were to update the firmware would this help?? where on the akaipro can i get the new firmware?? a little help, please and thank you.

Should be set to startup on atapi, u have a 2kxl right?

Set the jumpers for single drive if that doesn't work, set the jumpers for master.

format a zip disk on pc, fat16/fat, download the os on pc and unzip the bin files onto the zip disc. NO OTHER FILES on that disc.

Place the zip disk into the mpc and load the bin file just like you would a normal sample.

But wait, you can't get the zip to recognize in the mpc in the first place.

Replace your floppy and try again.

I thought you said zip, anyway. You have NO way of loading an OS into your machine, get a drive, any drive working to load your os in.

Your not going to get it loaded by asking about it ya know.
