i do not have either of them but seems like the answer is 'it depends'.
the mfc42 has analog filters and im guessing the kaoss pad is all digital.
the mfc42 seems to be more focused on filters than effects, it also has something the kaoss seems to lack which is midi connectors and standard 1/4" jacks.
so, you could probably use that kaoss pad as an external effects box but it doesn't look like you could tempo sync it via midi and you'd have to have 1/4" to rca cables to get into it from mpc.
but, if someone offered me a free kaoss pad for effects alone, i'd take it in a heartbeat. likewise if i owned one i'd still probably try to incorporate it with my mpc setup just to see how it goes.
i'd say experiment with it and if you like the sound, all good. if not, get an mfc42.
