The program is usefull, especially when you store all of your samples on a PC, but is it really worth paying the developer?

Why bother with this post. Its up to you what its worth. And its only $30 damn I can't believe how cheap people are. Spend the money to get the right tools.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'is it worth paying the developer'? Are you suggesting getting a cracked copy or are you saying it's not worth even $30 (even though you think it's really useful)?

yea come on man.....30 dollars aint nothing....if you can find anything out there that will do the same ting as fast then you tell me cause theres not one i dont even think mac guys could get it. so to me its gem. akai didnt think of it. its great to have a good tool im very happy to have a mpc editor it lets me take my laptop with me on road trips and sit down and put together new kits so when i get back home boom bam back onto a zip disk into the mpc. do the damn thang and spend the money...everybody gots to get paid...one day youll feel different when you give some a beat and they got to decide do they want to just steel your beat or pay you for it...i bet then you would feel its only right to get paid.

The program maker IS available for Mac...and it IS worth at least $30.
If this program didn't exist, and I heard that it was being invented, I'd be begging to pay $30 for a copy.

I'd say it gets more and more useful when you start to get favorite sounds and know them by name. Then you can put together kits without even listening.

it lets you build kits and play sounds on your computer. Its even build like the mpc pads....i save all my sounds on my hard drive and open up the mpc editor and drag sounds to what pad i want it one......it really makes building kits a hell lot faster

OK...well I ended up buying it, because it is very time saving for me. The thing I like the most about it is being able to autoplay my .snd files off of my PC, then of course, being able to create .pgm's with ease.

This is exactly what I'm looking for, and I was almost ready to pay over 200 bux for that program from native instruments (don't remember the name of it offhand. If I understand correctly, I can save all my sounds to my hard-drive, and make a kit for the MPC from the computer. This is definately worth $30. Computer hard-drives run a hell of a lot faster than floppy's/cd's and if you've ever had to load files to preview them, then you know the MPC is SSllooww!! I have cd's with hundreds of kicks/snares etc, and to go through each em one by one s like watching paint dry. I think I'll buy it now and just wait till I get another computer to use it on.

some of the snds and pgms i did on the editor made my MPC crash i think the data got corrupted somewhere. I lost a couple of finished songs because of it.....anyone else had this problem?

Q:

A:
Not sure if it's MPC Editor, I don't know why it would be, since all it does to convert wavs to snds is reorganize the file, it doesn't do any serious conversion operations like resampling or preprocessing of any kind, that I'm aware.

But I have had issues with pad sounds being funky and with loading sounds claiming to be missing, when in fact all my sounds have loaded. I just deal with craziness and hope it keeps working.

Also, any time I make a change which requires me to load a new version of a pgm from PC to zip, I make sure to backup first.

Not sure if this discussion should be going on in a poll thread, though.

i think it was probably the .pgm file that causes the crashes not the .snd but who knows.........thanks for the advice though

I tried the editor out last night on my 60 v3.1.

I exported the sounds for mpc 3000 and reduced to 12 bit (good thinking on the designer's part)

But when I popped the disk in, the mp wouldn't load the program, it said that there was not enough sound memory available for the operation. Which is straigh BS, because it was on a 720 disk and they were not stereo files or anything, and my MPC was empty. I could load the sounds alright and make a program on the mpc.

still really dope, If I can fix this issue I might pay the man when my eval runs out.

this might be what also causes problems to MPC2k users like MJK.

Further investigation called for.
