question about plugs (UK people should be able to help)

Mpc 2000xl, works in Both Uk and Canada, so i guess would work in the states too. Was the kettle 3 pronged or 2 pronged?. Because from a safety issue the 2 prong will not be earthed, but should work

You are going to need a "Step-up" power transformer. It will step the American 120VAC to the 220-240 VAC
that you will need for your MPC. Over here in England I use a "Step-Down" transformer because I brought my MPC
over from the states. As far as the plug goes, you definitely need a 3 prong cord to ground the unit.
Yes, you can use a 2 prong but it's not worth it in the long run.

I believe the MPC 2000xl has auto voltage detector in it. I bought the MPC in the Uk, came with a 3 pin kettle lead. worked fine. Just moved to Canada and purchased a regular lead. worked fine (just took a second or so longer to start-up) Look on the back i think it says 110v=240v. No step up or down transformers. I guess akai intended it to be a "touring" piece of gear. Dont get me wrong, i am not disagreeing, im just not sure there is that need to "step". Disclaimer: Dont blame me if it blows up( i think the manual mentions it in the blurb at front)
