Is this a good deal?

So for as long as I can remember I have always wanted to get into music production and stuff but never really made the jump and did it. Well now that I am a lil older and have the money to play with I and ready to go for it. I found somebody with a 6 month old MPC1000 and M Audio BX5a monitors for $700. He said he only used the setup for a month on a couple projects and it has been sitting since then. Said the pads are in good conditon and he's selling it just because its collecting dust. Does $700 sound like a fair price or should I try and beat him down to $600? Please let me know. Thanks.

That's a pretty good deal along with the monitors. I say go for it.

ALWAYS try to deal down, at the very least he can say no and you can buy it for the $700 anyways.

So I wound up copping it for $700 a while back. Got the MPC with the monitors for $700, the pads are straight, and everything works good. Still learning how to use it and haven't put much time into it. I can make simple shit and I love it. I also copped 2 Stanton T60 turntables for $150, brand new brand new. Gotta get cartridges and a mixer still though. Got my eyes open for keys right now. Anything else I should keep in mind?

Thats not that bad of a deal. Just always keep in consideration that sometimes the history of used gear is a bit "revised". But still thats not that bad. just ask questions.
