mpc 2500 limited

The 16lvl also has to "turned on" via F5 when you press it and assign an effect and a pad, just in case the people with problems are expecting it to light up by just pressing it, because it doesnt. Whoever said that could be a new user. Also a factory reset would solve the problem (hold erase while turning on MPC).

I like the white case and the whole "LE" idea, but the fake carbon fiber is weak. its just a checker pattern painted on plastic. if it was real CF weave, THAT would be tight, and more worth the extra cost.

I just picked one up too and it's fresh. BTW, the differences are much greater than merely aesthetics. After switching to the 2500 (lmtd.) from the MPC 1K, work flow seems much easier. THe DVD reader/CD burner and the on-board hard drive makes loading the samples to the internal memory relatively easy and allows for much greater ease in calling up a sample/adding one sound from a completely different bank without having to throw a particular sample on the CF card via USB. Plus, the 129MB memory card that's already installed was a nice bonus.

I don't know, but I think that the lmtd. is definitely worth the money, I'm lovin' it. The only thing that I could have wished AKAI to put on this particular model were some fresh drums.

Of course the difference to the 1000 is big. But the difference to a usual expanded 2500 isn't worth the money. Don't compare apples with peas.

Not sure im feelin the white. I saw one a few days ago and folks were ooh'n and ahhh'n over it. I wouldn't mind haven a custom look, but personally for the xtra money i'd definately holla at forat. Hes hella cool to. peace

Wouldn't it be worth the money since this is a collectible? What do you think it will be worth in the future? I like almost want to sell my MV to get tht shitt and glasss case it lol!

I dunno if people are not thinking straight or what. But for the money the white edition goes for. One could buy used mpc 4000, which is far more capable than 2500.

And you already get 272MB of RAM and 60GB HDD with it. No need to spend extra dough on RAMor HDD. If you add up all the add ons you still gotta get for the 2500, it almost equals to brand spanking new 4000.

Used 4k, $1300, limited 2500 $2400. Forats custom paint job on the 4k $800, paint job that nobody else sports on any MP! and still got money left over.

Maybe that limited edition mpc will be worth extra couple hundred dollars over regular 2500 in bout 20-30 years from now.


I like the limited edition 2500, but for the price definately not worth it.

Lol...with made in Taiwan written on the back, i don't see this so called 'LE' version being worth sh*t in the future. Althoug i still love my 2500 in black

And i agree with the above, a used 4000 would be 10 times better value over an 2500 LE, and a much more powerful machine handsdown - and I own that too.

Yo, I bought a 2500LE a couple weeks ago.(My first mpc, liked that it was fully loaded, and it looked pretty dope, plus only 500 made). I was actually looking into buying a used 4000, so I called Akai. I spoke with a tech rep(not sales) and he told me the 2500 does more than what the 4000 can, and the 4000 has been discontinued. I'm not sure about the differences in the two(cause i'm a newb), but I'm happy with my purchase(even if it was a little more $$$). I've already discovered so much more than what I could do on my Motif6.

First things first, never listen to some terd at Numark / Akai.

They have no idea about the 4000 features vs the 2500. I had one guy on the phone from Numark when i was buying my 2500 tell me that the 4000 is less featured and that the 2500 blows it away...lol. Little did he know that i had a 4000 sitting right next to me.

They even had a nerve to change the recent mpc comparison pdf. They have now (since the lack of new 4k's) put 96 ppqn instead of 960 ppqn for the 4000's sequencer spec (Why???). This is obviously a cheap /misleading attempt to push the sale of 2500's and fooling people into the idea that both machines are just as powerful - So wrong.

In short:

4K has 24 bit 96 khz ad-da's vs 2500's 16 bit 44.1 khz
4k has a full Z-series sampler with key grouping
4k has 64-voice polyphony vs 32 of the 2500
4k has a more powerful Intel CPU
4k has 4 FX units vs 2 of the 2500
4k has many more filters for sound mangling
4K has 960 ppqn resolution vs 2500's 96 ppqn
4k holds 'note repeat' down for you - handy
4k has a bigger screen - nice and clear in black & white
4K has Aksys software for sample drop and drag to the pads in real time
4K has USB flashpen slot in front for loading and saving on the fly
4k has upto 512 ram for samples / 6 banks of 16 for sounds
4k has a 24bit preamp and grounding for turntables.
4k has ADAT capabilities
Plus others.
