Zip Problem (Yes I searched first)

Been reading stuff here for a little bit and finally decided to post. I just got a hold of the kit to install an internal Zip drive in my 2000XL. It says Atapi instead of Floppy and everything, but anytime I go to load, save, etc., it always says "NOT READY!!". I thought it was my disks so I'm going to get some today. Any particular ones that work best? I also thought it was the OS, but right now I can't update it (no floppy drive on my G4).

This happen to anyone else? Is it a bad drive or something? I searched but found nothing. Thanks.

Well, I searched again and actually did find someone who had the same problem. Nobody had an answer though. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks but nothing in that Zip FAQ covers my problem. I've updated my OS to 1.14 and it didn't solve anything. Thanks again though. Hopefully when I fix this I can let everyone know for when it may come up again. I know I can't be the only one with this problem.

Tutor also has a beta os that works on the 2kxl for ZIPs. You also my have to format them to the MPCs fprmat.

Thanks. I'll try that beta OS out and see what happens. I know I have to format the disks but when I go to format it says "Not Ready!!" and where "DO IT" usually is (F6), it's not there.

Check your JUMPER settings on the back of your ZIP drive. bc it is "seeing" the zip, but not registering it properly.

Went back and made sure that the red pin was in pin 1 and the jumper settings was master. I e-mailed AKAI but I'm not sure if I'll get an answer. I bought one of those kits from AKAI so it should work.
