I know, I should have done that. Well, I'm thinking about taking it apart one more time so maybe, while I'm at it, I'll take some more pics.

I'd say the hardest part was cutting the hole for the other DB25 port. Other then that it's almost the same as hooking up a external drive w/ the aid of a SCSI 50 pin ribbon to DB25 adapter. Of course power was needed to power the Card Reader (+5V and Ground) those are available on the MPC PC Board. I only had to solder two contacts.

Just curious how people are using CF Cards with MPC2000 and Windows?

I have two different CF Cards - an older 1GB and a brand new 2GB SanDisk ExtremeIII that I just bought for $40 through Circuit City w/ online purchase discount... Killer deal!!!

So far, I figure this...
If formated on a PC it has to be FAT (Not FAT32) and max 1GB, then both will see the whole drive but no partitions. If formated on the MPC, windows only recognises the first partition.

So, I've done this with my cards...
1GB CF (FAT) 1048MB no partions
2GB CF (MPC) 512MB x 4 Partitions (1st Partition PC readable)

Any thoughts?

So could you use an internal scsi drive and an external scsi cd-rom
at this same time?

Yes, you sure can! Yesterday I had a old SyQuest drive and a 60BG HD hooked up and they worked. I'm currently moving everything over to the flash cards.

Oh yeah, don't forget that if you're going to be tranferring files from MPC to computer and back, keep the file names, on your MPC, down to 8 characters or your MPC won't load the programs correctly anymore. Even copying files on a PC can change those long file names to 8 character file names. On top of that, once those names have been changed to 8 character names, you might find that at 8 characters, some names would become the same name... causing the PC to replace some files... meaning you just lost some sounds too! So... be careful!

Long story short, keep file names to 8 characters and resave w/programs and sequences at 8 characters names too before letting a PC see them!

BTW... If anybody knows a way around this, let me know.

I was wondering if you could help, i'm trying to put a PCD47B in my 2000XL but i'm not sure where to put the two plastic jumpers i got with it. It's not that clear from this diagram...

Some people on here have helped me out but i couldn't get a definitive answer.



There's two sets of 8 pins (one laid out horizontally in the middle, and one vertically on the right) - where would i put the two plastic jumpers i've got?

Any help would be much appreciated.

shame about partitions, I have the same problem but with zips ....
I was thinking about getting a 9 gb HD but with no support for folders and not being able to see the other partition on xp (or even osx) is getting me back from buyn it... it would be a sample scrolling mess...

anyone have been able to read all the partition formatted with the 2000 classic?

You know, I only messed with the SCSI ID number jumper and I took all the jumpers off. (BTW... it's the vertical jumper to the right of the diagram)

So...

TERMINATED
SCSI 0=PC Card
SCSI 1=SM Card
SCSI 2=CF Card

Now, as far as the other jumpers go, I'm not quite sure. I don't even remember how it was set?

Hopefully this will get you results? Of course this depends on if you're using external devices and your preferences too. You might have to troubleshoot a bit.

BTW... Once you get it working and you're able to see the device. Make sure that the operating system on the microtech device shows up as m3.1 or m3.0. If it's shows up as r3.0 or something else with an "r" in front of it then it's a read-only device... meaning it needs to be flashed with a new OS. Which can be done, if you have a SCSI card or SCSI enabled computer. I had to do this.

Ah thanks man, sounds like you know what you're doing. I must be a bit thick or something as i still don't have a clue where to put the jumper.
