So I've just gotten and installed the new pads. The JJ OS does work but in order to trigger anywhere near full velocity the pad sensitivity needs to be set at 16 and even then I have to seriously hammer on them to even get close. Also, as I believe I saw mentioned previously, it doesn't seem possible to trigger at a velocity lower than 6. Triggering the low velocity isn't a big deal to me but the difficulty I'm experiencing getting them to trigger at velocities over 100 is a bit of a drag. Has anyone actually gotten confirmation that JJ will be releasing an update to accomodate the pad upgrade?

i advise turning up your sensitivity to 16.

i've been able to consistently get values of 127 when working at 16 sensitivity.

jj has this on his plate, but it's a complicated issue. not complicated to code, but instead complicated to keep everyone happy because many people are using the old pads and as posted, a lower triggering threshold may cause them problems.

however, like i said, 16 sensitivity boosts you up to those top levels very well. the more i play with these, the happier i get regarding their flexibility and sensitivity.

New Pads: 'Yes' or 'No' in the OTHER screen. E-mail him that suggestion.

Yes lowers the threshold. No keeps it the same.

Doesn't seem so unreasonable to code that.

i like the idea but from what i understand it may not be possible.
jj and i talked about this a long time ago and he was saying something about the threshold being specification, that it's not something you can make an option.

ie, once booted, the user can only raise (or lower) the roof, not the (important edit!) FLOOR

I installed the upgrade today. It wasn't the easiest install in the world. I couldn't screw in the damn PCB board. It took forever to get those screws in.

Performance wise, I had to go back to 2.11. I set the sensitivity to 16 on JJOS and full velocity just ISN'T happening. I had to hit really really hard to even get past 100 on JJOS. I think there's more to the threshold configuration than just the low velocity issue.

So now I have awesome pads and a crappy OS...

I don't know how often you need full velocity but you can always use the Full Level button or assign Velocity on a Slider for a particular pad.

see, this is exactly the position i don't want to be in. i want to get the new pads, but then i don't want to have to go back to the sh*tty akai os.

i'm sure jj will figure something out, but until then i think i'm gonna hold off.

strange, i'm definitely not having those kinds of problems. i'd like 127 to be a bit more reachable with less force applied, but i don't have a hard time surpassing 100...

I have the new pads and also had to resort back to the Akai 2.11
I could reach the higher velocities with the JJOS but I damn near put this thing through the table. I really hope JJ compensates for the new pads.

Nym got them strong hands I guess. No seriously, I almost put it through the table to get 127 as well. I guess I'll have to wait patiently for JJ...
