Hey guys,

I just wanted to know what yall thought was the best sounding mpc. I just got logic studio and I got a mpc 1000 but i was thinking maybe i should get a 3000 because it just has a great sound quality to samples. I have always loved that machine and can't really see myself with getting any other mpc but that one. I wish it came witha card reader which would be terrific. I could track out it's soulful sound to logic and really rock out..

Im just frustrated right now because i really wanna get my workflow and sounds right. People hear my tracks and tell me i need more sounds. Logic sounds are good but not great.. I need an edge right now and im tired of tweaking and having logic crash on me to get a beat together......

p.s. i am even thinking of a picking up motif es 6 keyboard. Maybe that will compliment my sound...

Honestly, you probably wouldnt even notice the difference between the 3k and 1k. The 3k is just as transparent and will not instantly "warm up" any digital recordings. Your soundcard/interface would determine the sonic quality of your tracks moreso....

oh ok.. should i get just get a motif keyboard or something. Is it easy to intergrate motif into logic so i can use it as a sound module. I wouldn't need it for a controller because I already have a nice controller....

Thats exactly what ya wanna do..or get a midi keyboard and a rack version of the motif. Maybe even try buying a used proteus 2000 rack for about $250..I personally like this more then my motif rack as far as overall sounds...motif has certain better sounds but example the bass sounds are ASS...proteus has a little bit of everything that sounds good..actually great.Anyways buy one used on Ebay for around $200 then if you do not like it ...you will definitley get resale value...at least for the next few years.

that does sound like a great idea. I do need more sounds but the price tag of the motif especially the xs is crazy if you ain't placing records and doing this professionally..... Im a give the proteus 2000 a try and if that dont give me a enough. I could always sell it like you said..

I like to just walk up turn my shit on and start making beats. I feel with my mpc3000 and keyboards hooked up it makes it easy and fun. I think a good benefit of the 3000 is 4 midi outs....It makes things easier once you get more then a few keyboards or sound modules. Once you get a sound module like the proteus 2000, you can get others like the roland 1080, which is fairly cheap...It doesnt mean you will never need any more sounds again..Thats why if you do decide to get a more pricier keyboard think about expansion boards most have ways to get more sounds..or you can get custom sounds from people who make them and you can do a midi dump to get the sounds.
The roland 2080 you can put 8 expansion cards once full this rack module will keep ya pretty busy. you can even get older modules..sounds may not be realistic, but sounds are sounds and do not need to always be realistic..hence the real definition of a synthesizer...synthesized sounds..

You don't think the few thousand sounds and loops on Logic Studio are enough? Are you serious? Maybe you need to get some more ram for your mac if it keeps locking up. And maybe you need to stop listening to people saying you don't have enough sounds... listening to people who don't know sh*t can cost you a lot of money. Maybe they're saying that you use the same 5 sounds from the 3000 you have available. Just focus on building content and mastering your craft... If you're a great producer, you'll make anything sound hot.

Logic Pro 8 / Logic Studio has only been out for 6 weeks dog... put some time into learning your equipment before giving up!

i would keep logic, keep the 1k, buy which ever rack sampler that shares the same sample engine as the 3k. i think its the s3000 or s3200, but don't hold me to that. and then buy which ever keyboard you want.

thanks dudes. I will keep all that in mind. LOgic 8 does have a ton of sounds. I have yet to really go thru them I think i will do that for a few months and then see if i could get a motif xs in the new year...... That's probably all i really need something besides software to get my sounds from..
