Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

After a quick snip of the scissors, the default power cable that comes with your MPC 2KXL is severed, and you sit, bright eyed, with your newly purchased soidering gun ready to make yourself that handy little power cable mentioned on MPC2000xl.com for use in swapping out your internal floppy for a ZIP/JAZ/Card Reader drive.

after several hours of being an idiot, you find yourself a broken man, third degree burns up and down your arms, tears in your eyes, ETC. ETC.

Long story short, you mess up that little power cable that connects the internal Floppy drive to the MPC's motherboard, no biggie right?

Wrong. I have searched High and Low for a replica of this plug, and nothing has turned up. Luckily I haven't ruined mine just yet, but as I prepare to dive into my MPC 2KXL mods, I want to make sure that I have my bases covered.

^^SKIPPABLE^^

Im looking for a cable that can replace the one that comes hooked into the Floppy drive of the MPC 2000XL

Does anyone know what this cable is called? Where one can be purchased? or any other information on this mysterious plug?

maybe Akai just likes to keep people on their toes.

Peace

Is the solder job you did on the power lead that bad?
Just get some thin heat strink tubing, slide it on the wire, solder the 2 wires back together, slip the strink tubing over the soldered joint, heat with a lighter... done.
It's not that hard bro. I had to mod/solder 2 power leads for the 5v and 12v to power the internal card reader and laptop hard drive. piece o' cake!

haha, naw... I did fine with the mod, but Im looking for some more specific information about what type of power plug connector it is.

As in, the tiny white part that plugs into the MPC motherboard, ya know? I'd like to get some extras to try a little experiment... oh well... the world may never know

Peace
