mpc 2000 xl midi with the s950

I'm trying to get this shit to work......I'm sampling with my s950 and triggering and sequencing with my mpc 2000xl......I've been trying to read the s950 manual for instructions on how to get all the midi shit to work, but since this is my first time using midi cables and hooking two machines up, things is a bit hard to understand.....

This is how far I've come....I've sampled a break into the s950 chopped it up to (let's keep it simple) a kick, a snare and a hi hat....
Then I go to the main screen of the mpc 2000xl and select midi : 1A - Device01 and when I press the pads I get my kick in different pitch all over the pads, because I got the kick selected on the EDIT SAMPLE function on the s950...and when I change it to the Snare the snare is in different pitch all over the pads.

Now I go to the program and try to **** with the keygroups, midi programs and the low and hi key but with no luck.....What i'm trying to do is have the snare, the kick and the hi hat alltogether in either bank A,B,C or D on the mpc2000 XL..I've tried to put the kick on one note, the snare on another note and the hi hat on another etc etc etc....but i can never play all of them simultainiously.....If I would keep writing about everything i've tried the this would be a long night.....

Does anyone feel me on this one or should I keep reading the manual untill I kill someone....Any help would be appreciated...

just load the sample to the s950 then from there load the sample into the mpc 2000xl so u dont gotta deal with all that midi shit and u still get that s950 sound

dont really wanna do that....i got my 8 outs in my s950 and I got other reasons why I rather do it with midi cables....

anyone?

make 3 keygroups, one "next to" another.
eg.: KG1, low key 95 - hi key 96
KG 2, low key 97 - hi key 98
KG 3, low key 99 - hi key 100

and so on....
then you will have the samples on pads next to each other...
then assign outputs to each key group (last page in edit program)
then go to play
push tha pads on tha mpc....

i would add that the s950 is hard work to make things come out of individual outputs and making keygroups etc. best way is to make template programs from the start and then add your sounds, so you only have to do it once...

Thanks winz, it works nice now. I didn't know how to make more keygroups but I figured it out and I can't belive I missed how to do it....shit was stupid easy...to create template programs sounds like a good idea fritzifratzi...thanks for the input.....
