Delay question

Hey all,

A question on delay. I have a vocal sample and want to have only the last word of it delayed, something like:

"Hello, this is a mpc test-test-test-test ..."

Could someone please tell me if there is a way to have only a part of a sample delayed. Or does the sample need to be chopped in two and then delay the second part of it?

This is one of the plugs I use to get those perfect delays...http://www.waves.com/Content.aspx?id=273. Now on the other end of the spectrum I might use an 18bit hardware delay every blue moon if I'm in a creative mood. Or maybe a Lexicon MPX-1.

you can easily do something like this with an audio editor. something like adobe audition, it has an option to extend the delay past the selection (not in those exact words but something similar). so it allows you to highlight a certain word or piece and add an echo/delay to it and it will only add the effect to that selection. nothing else.

if you dont have an audio editor with that kind of function, you can always chop the word you want to have the effect on, and put it in the mpc. cut on 16 levels > velocity, and make your own echo.......
