I feel you Lumin. Alot of haters out there. Luv da setup. Does that card reader work well with the MPC60? 8)

dope pick man, love that card reader

did you cover the arm rest in black leather?

By lumin Wed Oct 17, 2007 10:07 pm
its not black leather. the cat i bought it from did that before i bought it. im glad he didnt go black leather because i think that would not look good after a few years. leather tends to do funny things when exposed to skin oils.

as for the card reader ive had it in for quite a few months with no problems loading or saving. everything has worked very fast, all day every day.
i will say this
this week i got rid of the memory hack and installed the proper exm003 memory upgrade and the problems i was having with a crackly output stopped.
that got me happier than anything

yo lumin... nice aardvark Q10s you got there... how do you like them, and do you use 2 pci cards to integrate both q10s in the same system, or can you daisychain them or something similiar? also, if you dont mind asking, which OS do you run those q10s on? ive heard of problems finding drivers for those aardvark interfaces on newer OSs... ive got a couple myself that i havent had the time to install on any system yet, im finally building the system im gonna use for audio and will get around to messing with the q10s in the next month or two i hope, if i dont get sidetracked in the meantime... i hope you dont mind the questions, its just hard to find people that know about these aardvark interfaces from experience...

well all the things you hear about the q10s is sorta true. they are very particular about the computer they get installed in. so much so that i havent upgraded my computer for fear that they will not work with a newer computer setup. one q10 works fine by itself. adding a second one is where some hassle may come. it took me about a week to get the settings proper so i can record 8 tracks at one time on the 2nd q10 without pops and clicks. i use the 7.04 driver version. i think there is a newer one but i wasnt having much luck with it. i can help you set it up or troubleshoot if you need help.
i know this may scare you from installing them, but they are really good soundcards and they can be bought for real cheap since a lot of people are selling them because they wont work with vista.
i bought my first one when they came out. wasnt anything like it then. i think that was around 2001 and ive been happy with it so much that i bought the 2nd one earlier this year.

good lookin on the info lumin...

ive got 2 of them, and ill probably just install them on seperate systems since i dont think my simple beats will require more than 8 simultaneous tracks... overdubs are fun anyways... driver version 7.04 huh? are you running win xp with service pack 2 ( sp2 ) ? or another os? i got mine for pretty good prices and they are comparable to pretty expensive cards i have noticed... i couldnt pass the deal up i got on them... what software do you use with them to record? i have cubase sx 3, but will probably get something newer eventually... i hope to get these installed next month sometime, and im hoping they work well in the systems im building... i have a bunch of parts sitting around that i bought a few years ago that im finally putting to use and building something with... so now ill have a few systems to play with when they are all up and running... if all else fails i can have one system run windows 98 for a q10 to run on...

cool. sounds like you will be ok
i have windows xp sp2 running on my computer. i record using sonar 3. since i dont really make music on my computer i dont feel the need to have the fastest, most up to date system. i mainly just record with the computer.
i have other instruments and mics as well as my main outs of my mpc 60 plugged into one q10 and have the 8 outs plugged into the 2nd.
this way i dont have to continually change my cabling and wear those inputs out.
let me know how the progress comes along with the computer

By fobedafied Fri Oct 19, 2007 8:36 pm
oh ok cool, you got those Q10s working on xp sp2.... hopefully i will be as lucky... i will be using the computer more for recording than composing also... i usually compose my sequences in the mpc60 and my other hardware samplers, so the comp will just be for recording and maybe some effects here and there... i do enjoy playing around with reason as a sound module though... 2Q10s sounds like a great idea the way you are utilizing them... may have to think about that option a bit... did you have to install both pci cards for the q10s to integrate them both into the same system?!?!?!
