i'd actually like for our current highest level of "16" to be the middle ground of a whole new velocity range.

Me too. I was gonna order mine on Friday. I'm not sure now. I'm not going back to Akai OS. Not even for new pads.

If the JJ crew can't make it a toggle option, then it seems all they really have to do is compile a second "new pad" version of the same OS and put up a new download link labeled as such.

Doesn't seem like it should be that big a deal.

damned if you do.... damned if you dont. soon as i come up with the scratch the pad fix is sooooooooooo got. it aint even funny... if i got to keep it on full level then f$$$ it... as long as i press the pad and sounds come out with minimal force than its fair game....

as far as that silly @$$ akai os.... akai can shove that wack $hit so far up their @$$ it aint even funny. That fisher price bull$hit can go somewhere... First they crippled the 1000 from the gate... then they added sample editing with 2.0 the catch was that it had a malicious saving bug  .... made faulty @$$ pads that
broke to bits of black bull$hit that i successfully cleaned up and SCOTCH TAPED back on... although this helped the response still isnt up to snuff.

now here we are. akai finally recognized the mpc 1000 as being a professional tool. and we are finally treated with the design that it should ve had in the mo fuggin first place...

well at least i wont have to buy a 2500 like i thought

but that 2000 classic...

gear lust... i got a HORRIBLE case of G.A.S. you gotta excuse me!

that's a good point a couple posts up. akai prolly thought the 1k would be some half assed toy and now they see people are trying to take it serious now.

it's almost like if you had some old school toy keyboard and they realized its a kick ass keyboard and started selling ivory keys  does that make sense?

real talk!

Akai KNOWS that they clearly f****d up wit the pad design. At least they were NICE enough to attempt to pull themselves out of bankruptcy with putting a price on a design that was believed to be standard .... in the first place... just think of all the 60, 2000, 3000, 4000. owners who sold their machines or wanted an extra drum machine off of faith, only for it to just break like that?! Of all the money we put in Akai's pocket. You would think that they wouldn't treat us like this. The name Akai is like saying Hip-Hop and Electronica. Alot of us put faith towards this company to give us a high quality product. Good pads, solid sequencing, nice groove, and a solid O.S. to polish it off. Apparently they dont give a f*** about their legacy.

we had to rely on a 3rd party company to give us the support that we deserved for $30.00... wow.

How many people do you know that has the balls to crack open a $1000 machine?

Not many... which is why they were selling the invidual pads and sensors... for soooooooooo.... long.

Akai gave us cancer then thought it was cute to treat our problem with chemo and they had the cure for cancer the WHOLE time!

i think its messed up that they would build a drum machine so cheap like that when they priced it so high!

oh well. such is life...

just dont be suprised when Akai starts selling MPC 1000 xl's
with the flip screen and the pad upgrade...
