JJ OS Auto Chop - Do you rate it?

I have been reading the latest JJ OS manual and noticed that JJ has auto chop functionality.

From the manual I get the impression that it uses peak analysis to detect chops and that you can set the sensitivity (attack, threshold) similar to Recycles sensitivity function.

How do you guys rate the auto chop function on JJ?
Is it on par with Recycle or Soundforge?

I can't wait to try the Auto Chop myself. I hope it works well becuase it would be so useful if I could use the MPC for chopping instead of Reycyle.

you already can use your mpc to chop instead of recycle. in fact, using your mpc's slice function even without autochopping it is faster than sampling on your mpc, taking it to recycle, autochopping it, and taking it back to your mpc.

Autochop on the mpc isn't as good as recycles autochop for very complicated samples, but then again the chopping that I do on an mpc isn't really like loop chopping, and so I end up cutting up the pieces in a way different way.

But, to give you an indea, if you have a nice clean loop that you want to bring in and chop up into a patched phrase, autochop on the 1k is really good, it will dice it up nicely and then you can change the tempo no problem.

Beyond that for me using the 1k to chop is hella quick. If you don't have JJOS already I recommend getting it ASAP.

Yes....I have got the latest JJ OS, it was well worth the $30.

With regard to the MPC1000 with standard OS, I thought that the chopping on that was pretty dumb. Here is what is says in the beat making manual

"If you've ever used the computer software 'Propellerheads Recycle', you'll know that Recycle analyses the peaks of the drum beat waveform and automatically slices your beat into perfect zones. The MPC on the other hand does not do this - in fact it is blissfully unaware of the exact position of your drum hits. The MPC simply takes the
length of the sample and divides it into equally spaced zones"

Obviosuly you can manually adjust your zones afterwards but it would be great if the MPC could use peak analysis like Reycyle to reduce the amount of manual trimming.

So are you guys saying that JJ OS Autochop is pretty decent for short and fairly simple samples? If the answer is yes....then the creator of JJ has done us all a big favour.

its DECENT, but just like recycle, i would never just automatically trust it without either adjusting the actual start/end points in trim after autoslicing OR instead just slicing manually.

I'd rather manual chop. How much work to we need the machines to do for us?

i like sampling and chopin on the 1000 better then the computer.It's faster and easier to grab whatever u want
