Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi

I bought mpc 2000xl mcd a few days ago. It came with standard 2 mb ram, and I also bought 2 x 16 mbytes of ram from that auction:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/GOLD-32MB-RAM-MEMORY-for-AKAI-MPC-2000-2000XL-MPC2000XL_W0QQitemZ270117433514QQihZ017QQcategoryZ38070QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I put the memory in slots as like in this link for egzample:
http://www.mpc2000xl.com/memory_install.htm

but it doesn't work. I've put it in all possible configurations (first stick installed in 1st slot, second stick installed in 1st slot, first stick installed in first slot and second stick in second slot, second stick installed in first slot and first stick installed in second slot), but when i go to sample mode i still have max of 10.9 sampling time in stereo and it tells me that i have 2 mb ram installed etc

What could i do wrong? what could be the reasons that memory doesn't work? I'm working on OS 1.20.

Thanks for any help

Damaged RAM maybe ? Maybe it received some static energy and broke ?
Just a thought, not sure. But they always put these labels on electronic equipment in protective bags, that say to pay close attention where we open them, in what enviroment or sth like that.

Hm, maybe, but i don't think so. I was careful with that memory and it was safely packed when it came. But i'll buy some another memory to check it also.

Any other ideas?

Maybe base on that pictures:

Top left side of the first pic, there are two pieces of RAM.

But i don't exactly feel what you're talking about. On the top left side i've got Flash rom extension board, and 2 slots (simm 1 and simm 2), which are empty when i've 2 mb's installed am i right? i'm putting that 2 x 16 mb sticks in that slots, but they doesn't work. How can i take out that 2 mb of ram?

I dont think it is possible to take out the 2mg's of ram. My mpc cant read my 32mg's of ram aswell. Does anyone know how to initalise(reset) the mpc. I did it before when i had some problems a few years back

Reinstall the OS. Also, check that the RAM is absolutely the correct one. MPC's are very picky on their RAM. Last, you don't need to take out your 2 MB standard chips. Just leave them as be. All you need is to get your hands on some good RAM and you're on.

The Ram was originaly working. The Mpc suddenly stopped seeing it. So i have taken the Ram out plenty of times and reinstalled it. It seems to be fitted perfect. I have ordered some new Ram blocks to make sure. I have reinstalled the OS aswell, didnt work

help. Any other idea's folks?
