Man...... Files....

Is it possible to move files once they are already in the root folder? Ive done it on my mac via USB but then the MPC doesnt know where any of the files are. Ive tried this numerous different ways and taken in alot of good tips but still cant get things figured out. Have a hard drive but im currently just working with a 2gig card...

have you tried reconnecting the usb to locate them so you can move them back?

Ok... actually if someone can tell me how to do this step by step that would rock. I formatted my CF again, I have my sounds, Sequences, etc in file on my Mac, Im going to put them back into the MPC. I did this before and it didnt work either time.

Once I made new folders on my Mac while the CF/MPC was plugged in USB. Which was not successful. It had no idea where any of the wavs were. So I formatted the card, created new files within the MPC then plugged it into my Mac, dragged and dropped sounds into designated folders. Same thing happened... Load a program or sequence and it just doesnt know where things are.

I would imagine the CF works the same way as the HD. I did this over the weekend and had no problem. I created a new folder on the desktop, dragged the files and then dragged that to the mp. have you verified the format of the samples?

Yeah they are all wavs. When you dragged your files to the MPC, did you already have pre-made sequences/ songs that were dragged also? Thats what I did, but it wont find any of the files/wavs in my folders once I load a seq or program. I had everything in a single folder before but FAT16 wont view all the files... so forced to seperate things.

yea i didnt have any of my sounds in programs or anythings. Just one main folder and then sub folders in it...(kicks, snares). Also there are different type of wave files make sure your using the right ones. Only reason im stressing that is because i had once tried to drag over waves from a pro tools file and it didnt read them at all. You could also try creating the folder in the MP first this way you could see exactly where your dragging it to. I tell you these things can be a pain in the nuts when you get stuck

Yeah I'll definitely double check the format of wav files. I know a few of them actually dont work, thats probably why. I think If I made all the folders in the MPC, then went in on the Mac and categorized everything into folders (like i did before) and started completely fresh as far as sequences and programs it would have no issues finding the files. BUT, that is a serious pain in the ass when it comes to re-working things, or if you already have songs started. I feel like ive done this backwards.

yea man it sucks to do it twice. For some reason the MPC's can be a little frustrating with file organization if you slip just one bit. When i first got my MP i was saving things wrong...about 20 beats later i realized that i didnt save them right...lol... Just start from scratch with one file and see what happens.
