MPC2500 compared to MPC1000

How do the pads on the 2500 compare to the ones on the 1000?
Are the infinitely better? I prefer the look of the 1000 but would consider upgrading if the pads were better on the 2500.
Any advice appreciated.

they use sensitronics pads just like the upgraded 1000 does

the 2500 is nothing but an mpc1000 in a bigger box that has a cd player in it, and a few more outs

Not worth upgrading then.
I will persue the pad upgrade for the 1000.
Or return the 1000 until they release it here in the UK with the new pads installed.

flax, if you're looking to upgrade, how about peripherals or DAW programs? consider getting a solid sound module. reason 4 is looking great these days - 4 apparently has an improved sound engine over 3.

similarly, there are lots of good freeware vst synths out there you could use. consider picking up a MIDI->USB cable and start using your pc as a sound module.

Antonym, I have a DAW set up based around an Intel PC with Cubase 4 and various VST and VSTi.
Korg M3, Korg Triton Rack, Access Virus C, Novation Supernova II, Alesis Micron, Nord Rack 2X, Yamaha O1X,
Korg padKontrol, Midisport 8x8, Genelec 8030As and loads of outboard effects.
Laptop running Reason 3 and Ableton Live 6 with a Korg Kontrol 49.

I wanted the MPC-1000 for a different approach to making beats.
Away from PCs and Laptops.

gotcha. that was me pretty much to a T back in 05. youll enjoy working on the 1000. i suggest working ONLY in the 1000 until you've very comfortable in it and then incorporate your PC into your setup. you'll realize the true power of both together and it will suddenly be like having a completely new machine.

each daw program style has different things to offer the mpc1000 workflow depending on their syncing options.

the pads on the 2500 are WAY better than the 1000's, even with the pad upgrade. the 2500 is a much more professional machine than the 1000, don't let him fool you. more outputs, better hardware, more controls, better construction. the 2500 is a real mpc along the same lineage as the mpc60, 3000, and 2000....

no hate but I personally disagree. I prefer the 1000 over all the other MP's.

Information: The sensitivity of a pad is corrected by the version4.88.

more outputs, better hardware, more controls, better construction

the 2500 uses the same tact switches
same screen
same processor
same sound engine
same quality converters

care to step in and describe what justifies the 2500 being 500 dollars more expensive than the 1000?

what does it offer over the 1000?

3.5 things.

1 - 2 more midi outputs
2 - more outputs (maybe even another set of inputs, too, i forget)
3 - 2 additional qlink knobs
.5 - no guesswork as to what type of pads you're buying.

real talk. This forum is the reason why I bought a 1000 over a 2500. Reading up on specs b4 you buy, puts you way ahead of the game.

I also use reason 4 with MPD24 = MPC on Steriods

Right, not worth going for the 2500 then.

they might use the exact same sensor technology but they're lacking in the size technology. the 2500 also has a better screen. i love my 1000 for making beats at my crib but i always use my 2500 when i'm producing a song at my studio. does that make sense?

one thing i like better on the 1000 is the data wheel because it's smoother and quieter.

I would take (i have) a 2500 over the 1000 for the bigger size alone. I bought a 1000 in 2003 and had to return it (+2 more) due to the cheap sliders, bad pads, and that flat lcd causing me neck pain all the time. But still a cute machine.

The 2500 has a decent build quality imo (similar to my xl and 4k), traditional mpc pads, proper sliders (like xl and 4k), nice lcd screen that tilts (a big plus), more outputs, and numeric buttons. Besides all that, it looks more professional too.

2500 = better overall mpc.
