Hi Gregg,

The MPC 1000BK does not have the pad upgrade installed. This is an optional upgrade that is available through certain service centers such as VST Service at 626-794-8196.

Hey Hereo i saw that your in Sacramento, did u buy your MPC at guitar center in Aden??? Because thats where they let me exchange my old one at.
The sales reps wouldnt help me, the assistant manager wouldnt help me, but i took it up to the store manager and he ordered me a new mpc. His name is nathan try to get him. I sorta had a special case with mine, being that they sold me an out of box one but claimed it as new, but you should keep trying.

The number for guitar center is 916-922-5322 ask for nathan becker and tell him whats goin on.

My free pad upgrade feels so good under my fingers right now, sooo good.

Just because I got new pads, doesnt mean i'm not fighting the pwers also.
I dropped an email to Mr. Baro with my purchase information and concerns.

I still have a blue MPC with shit pads and would like a free upgrade too.

Keep up the fight.

It would be cool if somebody could compile all Akias Reps. contact info and post it.

HERE IS THE BULLSHIT RESPONDS FROM JUSTIN B. FROM AKAI

Gregg,

The traditional MPC1000 pad design has been in use for the past 4-5 years with many, many thousands of units out there being used and working fine. All of our items carry a full one year warrantee covering both parts and labor if the need should ever arise. In response to some customer’s requests, we have created and introduced a Retro Pad Kit which is sold as an option for $150. We recommend that an electronics shop does the installation, but there are a few sites that show instructions as well.
The Retro Pad Kit has a similar feel as the older models like MPC2000, which some people prefer.
Sometimes AKAI or specific Dealers will run various promotions on MPC’s at times, so there may be some units out there that already have some options installed. If you are fortunate enough to find a unit with this option already installed, that’s great. I have no way of knowing what models any particular store has on their shelves.
This is similar to the details on the custom MPC2500 we had built for Guitar Center recently. It comes fully loaded with RAM, hard drive, and CD drive. That promo is limited to however many the stores have on hand. I think there were maybe 2 or 3 units per store available. Some other Dealers also offer discounts and packages on other fully loaded MPC models.
Best of luck in finding whichever models suit your needs best. For many people the traditional MPC1000 is the cornerstone of their studio. Now that you have to option to Retro back to a 2000 era pad, it gives the users even more options. Some people have said that they like it, and other’s say they don’t. We leave it to the customers to decide which style is best for their use.

Best Regards,
Justin Baro

This is true. Guitar center does have that 2500. Its pretty sick too.
Limited edition 500 made. anyway

WTF does that have to do with the 1000 tho. It didn't say limited or special edition when I bought it.
I took a leap of faith only because I knew I could return it, if it wasn't right!
This is crap Akai C'mon.
