Hi guys long time no speak (and no MPC)

Hi guys I could really use some direction here....I have been away from my MPC 1000 for quite some time and have recently broke it out again and started using it, or at least trying. It has literally been years since I turned it on and after coming back to this forum I realized how completely out of touch I am. I was just curious... can anyone tell me the latest operatring system and software/firmware etc?? Also can someone sum up this whole JJ thing and if I need it? Also...I used to use a free program called MPC program creator to export my drum chops out of pro-tools to my pads etc... does that still exist?? I tried to google it but didn't get much in return. Nothing that looked familiar anyway. Have they implemented any time compression/exp yet? Please help! Please.

hi HS. I believe the newest Akai OS is 2.11, the newest version of the JJ OS came out yesterday and is 4.88 ... as far as the benefits of JJ over Akai, from what I understand, it basically brings the 1000 up to par with the MPC2500. I've had JJ for about 3 weeks now and LOVE IT! Only $30 too!

this is a correction that often needs to be made. the both jj os's (1000 and 2500) doesn't bring the 1000 to par with an out of the box 2500, it takes it miles above.

it doesn't "give the mpc1000 some of the features of the 2500"
it doesn't make the mpc1000 a "little 2500"

the program editors to look for are BlueBox for Windows and Pad 187 on mac....

Wow thanks a lot guys! Perhaps my question was a little too vague to yield any more responses. Yeah I found the site for MPC Program Creator and it looks just like i remember it except it's not free. I'll have a look at the 187 program too. But now I am wondering if I will even need that because I used to use Pro-Tools for time compression/expansion and now I see that I can have that right here on the MPC1000! Is there any quality loss or distortion with that? So I went and read up on the JJ and it seems like a great system so I will probably go and purchase v.4xx but I am just a little curious about all the bug reports and I wonder if it's possible to switch back to an older system if I need to? I'm still afraid to turn this thing on lol. I have all these old tracks and I can barely even remember how to load them and get my sequences and stuff. Wow. This is embarrassing.

you can switch back but trust me you wouldn't. Check the search for some of your other issues
