its a shame my first posts are possiably the beginning and end of my involvement on such a great community site but after everything i have read i might be steering clear of the MPC1000 and well AKAI....

Just gotta find something to rival the MPC1000....any suggestions?

If i didn't have my MPC1k and wasn't looking to go the software/controller route, I would put my dough on a used MV8000.Getting cheaper these days with MV8800 out.

the box with a pic of the 1k seems to have new pads.
i would not get a an mc-808 by the way, that is new technology and looks very suspicous(moving faders) plus it does NOT have velocity sensing pads. but the sp-555 looks cool...
freezerman try mpcstuff.com or vst(ad on this site), both will deliver overseas. but u have to install yourself.
so i'm gonna keep mine, after thinkin it over its just a better product in the long run.
i think i am bout bored with this issue now. u know in the new millinium i guess the company is always right, we'll see.

no reason why you should wait other than the fact that akai screwed up.
if you can stomach the fact that you're giving that much more money to a company who doesn't deserve it, you're good to go. it's hard to do, but if you can do it, power to you. get the pads and leave this whole sordid mess in the past.

just make sure to make it your last akai purchase.

hey master-ceo, i'm just curious... you mentioned that you ordered your mpc1000 with the new pads from amcericanmusical... and i'm just wondering if the package you bought is the one they sell for $995 (with the free padded gigbag)?.. i'm having doubts because that's the only new one i see them selling, but it says nothing about the 128 CF card being included, and i don't really care much for the gigbag... so i just wanna make sure i'd be getting the same thing that they sent you... thanks for posting all this info by the way.

If this unit has been selling for 4 + years is it such a huge problem? Or like the xbox 360 is it just a few 100 units failing and the other thousands are ok? I understand the black unit is newer than the blue - but there doesnt seem to be a answer if this guarantees the new pads. Most likely not.

I bought the MPC-1000 from DV247 Birmingham on the 16th October.
Not only are the pads unresponsive and double triggering.
Pad 2 sometimes has no sound! I am waiting for a reply from Akai UK regarding the pad issue.
If this doesn't work out it's going back to DV247 for a full refund.
The guy at DV247 has been extremely helpful in the matter.
I can not fault their service at DV247.
If Akai do not come up with a solution, I will NEVER buy an Akai product again!
I was promised a phonecall from them on Friday or Saturday.
They broke that promise.
They have phoned DV247 and promised to sort things out. Hopefully for all concerned!

thats really bad news - I would be pished. I really hope they sort it out for you - theres nothing worse than buying something new and it not working as it should.

I was considering importing a unit for a cheaper price than UK but if there's the high risk of problems id hate to sort out shipping it back and everthing.

Akai take note - people are pissed and as a potential new customer I now wont be buying your product and shall recommend that others dont as well. Shame on ya'll!!

The SP-555 does look and sound great but its not a sequencer....
The MC-808 can do everything the MPC1000 can.
