Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By dellyd Fri Oct 26, 2007 9:52 pm
I have a Mpc 2000xl and I make the beat first then track them into protools 1 by 1 for about 16 bars than duplicate the whole track a few times but I notice that my timing is a little off and when the other tracks come in behind the first one its sound like it jumping in. Could someone tell me a differant method on how to go about doing this?

arrange the whole beat in song mode on the mpc and record the entire song to pro tools.

Try putting it in Bars and beats and the Tempo of the beat, then chop a 16 bar loop and then Duplicate it.
That might help you out a little, that's most likley what i would do in that sitch.

I tried that but it makes a pop when the duplicate comes in and u still could hear the split

maybe put in an empty bar as your 1st sequence in song mode. i'm guessing it'll eliminate the pop and allow 'tools to sync up?

Yeah I did that last night when I was tracking a beat (for the first time) into cubase. It was missing off the first sample so the empty bar pre roll just ensures that it's always going to catch the beginning.

I guess it's just a matter of preference...but i'm one of those who prefers to arrange in the box as opposed to the DAW or Pro Tools. Then again, I've never used PT before...maybe it's easier.

how about this someone told me that u could take 8 tracks on a seq out the mpc and put them into 8 tracks in protools at the same, could this be done if so how? I run my mpc connect to a digi 002 mixer connected to a Imac computer.
