midi problem mpc - cubase

hi@all

i'm not a native speaker,
so it's a bit difficult,
but i can't find answers in my language,
so i try to explain my problem here:

i've got a new mpc 500 firmware 1.13
and i want to connect it with my cubase sx
so i bought a new soundcard wich has a midi cable on it
i putted it into the "midi-in" from my pc
and into the "midi-out" of the mpc

my mpc settings are:
receive channels: all
soft thru: off
pad to sampler: off
sync: off
and the default note assign

if i try now to play a drum or a vsti plugin
with my pads,
there is no signal in cubase,
but if i press the "stop" button of the mpc 3 times
theres a signal on it,
so the connection has to be right...

i don't know my fault,
please help me!

From what I see here, mpc settings are ok, so you should make the right assignements in Cubase. That is - choose the midi channel, a vst instrument and Arm the track (?) not sure about the last thing... Anyway, I remember, that I had some issues at first when making the midi connection with Cubase as well. Try fixing the problem from the software side.

You have to tell the MPC 500 (or any other model for that matter) what type of track you are working on. If you want the pads to send MIDI note numbers from the MPC to your computer, you have to set the track type to MIDI. It defaults to drum, and that is when you are triggering the MPC itself.

You can have a mix of track types in any pattern, any way you want it. So some can contral cubase, and some can control the MPC's internal sond bank.

You can also send out MIDI info on different tracks to diferent MIDI sources. For instance, you can control 16 different VST instruments from the MPC 500. 1 for each separate MIDI channel.

Yep. Track--edit--scroll to midi channel and set it to the spicific channel. Turn the drum mode to MIDI!!! God luck
