is there a way to view only the midi notes actually entered into the sequencer in the grid screen? i think reason has a feature like this, and i know ableton does. it would be really useful when you want to fine tune midi info and you want to see all the notes you're using at once, instead of spread across the entire range.

is there a way to do this that i'm not seeing? if not, i wonder how difficult it would be to add this. who else would like this feature?

do you mean a "vertical zoom" function in midi grid edit?

i'd love this.

what alpha is describing would be a mode or function button press called "fold" which would re-draw the grid edit screen, not displaying the rows that don't have any notes.

i dont remember off the top of my head if grid edit shows the pad number column over on the far left, it would need to show that for reference.

lets say you have a track that only uses pads 2,3,4,15 and 16

hit fold and your grid edit view would be reduced to 5 rows:
16
15
4
3
2

Love this feature, would be real dope.

Esp. 6Pad Mode would be greatly improved by this. Would be nice to see the notes in Midi Edit too

im thinking more like it only shows the notes actually entered into the sequencer. so if you're only using A, G, and F#, it only shows those notes. if you enter, say C, into the sequencer, C becomes visible on the midi roll screen. but the ability to zoom, even just enough to see each midi note at the size of the pads in the 6 pad mode, would be SO helpful. i get pretty deep into midi editing, especially with duration, and this would make it much easier to see what im doing.

another thing that would be REALLY useful, (and probably pretty simple to implement) is if when you were in 6 pad mode, the six pads shown on the screen were the last six pads you pressed. when you press a 7th pad, it replaces the 1st one. that way, you could have any 6 pads in your program displayed at the same time.
