New to MPC 1k

What else do you guys suggest I invest in? Software? Samples? What else do I need to help me get to work?

Invest in SOUNDS loads and loads of them! They are the Number 1 most important thing when you have an MPC. Depending on what you want to do with the 1k I definitely suggest getting a wave editing program. I haven't used recycle but I heard it's the bomb to use with an MPC......

if worst comes to worst you can do most of your editing on your mpc, it's not bad at all. But a good program like soundforge is good for the features your mpc doesn't have. If you don't already have a turntable, and a mixer, get those and TONS of vinyl.

also consider just getting a digital portable recorder that records in .wav. make sure you get one that has a line in so you won't depend on the mic all the time. i've been wanting to get one for a long time. you can get sounds from anywhere!!!!!

First off I wouldnt really suggest paying for samples to begin with.....check out the site http://hollowsun.com/vintage/index.html and http://www.akaipro.com/us/mpckits.html. Also records are a great way to get samples so a turntable mixer and vinyl is a good investment. Also a microphone can be a great source of sounds as you can record basically anything. I would suggest trying to cop a PC with some software in the future. Even if you just use it to edit and create sounds for the MPC its worthwhile. But damn...there are so many things to spend money on in the end

A keyboard synth so you can record musical phrases and use sounds that are a little more interesting than just banging pads and triggering snippets of other people's music

A sack of that sticky icky oooohhh weeee!

Sound Forge, Wave Lab, Pro-Tools and their respective Audio interfaces so you can get some sounds in the computer

Recycle 2.x would be nice!

Then you might want to think of something like REASON, LOGIC, SONAR or CUBASE for some serious Midi composition

but really all you need is talent, inspiration, and the drive to be the best damn producer to ever lay hands on a MPC

Oh yeah, you'll need some sounds - you'll find those right around the corner at your local record store!!!
