wow!!!!

this sounds very good, can't wait to load it up, thank you for sharing the process, It helps out a lot to see the way things were made, I plan to get into more samplin/sound design and I know the 4k is very powerful, a lot of sample cd's are made with older model akai samplers and I've been reading about a few sound designers and they seem to use the akai samplers...

can't wait to try this patch as well as try my hand at some more sampling

and hey, I have a supernova! lol, another source of patches we can share.....

did you use sample robot for the sampling/looping or another software, or did you use the 4k?

I found a site that offers a demo folder of single osc wavs that can be loaded into your sampler to make instrument keygroups. They sound good, but I wasn't able to set the tuning of the sample as specified in the docs to f-1, with the mpc4000.

http://www.galbanum.com/products/archit ... universal/

If someone could make a template for the mpc4000 using these wavs, that would be great. If I can get over this hurdle, I would buy the whole package.

The attack samples weren't mine (I got those of the web)...I cleaned those up a little in Soundforge (eg and 'smooth' function)...I trick I used was not to clean up the first milliseconds but only the rest of the sample (I didn't want to destroy the little clicks and stuff in the attack)...the samples still had a lot off hum and buzz in them that got in the way so I decided to take only the first little bits of them the attack plus some more. Did an fade out on those and a normalize.

The other samples (from the Nova) I played in by hand and sampled in Soundforge. Cut them to 1 sec portions (much too long in fact) and looped those in the MPC. Looping is done with a lot of easy in the MPC. I use both the MPC and Aksys at the same time when I edit my patches and I use my little bass station keyboard to trigger samples and audition programs (unless it are drum programs) It works really well like that. Quick and intuitive.

Hint: I've found take taking some time to give your samples proper names (so you can use them again at a later date) is a big time saver too...

Mille Grazie! I'll take a spin with those later this week.

Any requests for some other new sounds? I like the half synth / half sampling approach (I don't really like the sampling a lot of keys for a long time approach).....Perhaps we can make a game of this. The guys who makes the last sample / programs gets to request the next one. Etc. etc.

Good idea no?

I'm game for it.....though i'm new to it with the 4k, anyone want to do a sort of masterclass on the basics of getting starting particularly with the 4k, I know it's the same as other synths, (very powerful sampler) but let's continue to grow this thread with sound design tips and examples.

I am gonna try to approach from the raw wav angle and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for sharing guys you really made my day. And I guess that Extractor program is worth the bread or that redmatica program too. I got`s to do some research on those.

Keep posting as the 4k is a giant with some help from fellow users.
