basically you said it, the 4k is a full sampler whereas the 2500 is meant as a phrase/drum sampler.....

the 4k can load and create multisample instruments very well, not just drums and phrases....

things playable from a keyboard...though, i'm sure you could figure out a way to do this with the 2500, it's not the same as in a 4k

what are you looking for in you upugrade?

aksys integration with the mpc4k is brilliant.
u can link the mpc4k to bias peak(mac) or soundforge(pc) etc. seamlessly as if they were not separate.

Well it about whether you want a Big Boy machine or not? 4K hands down has more horsepower but the 2500 is more mobile. Personally I like the size of the 4K because it gives me a bigger surface to work with. I don't like things too crowded.

The one I move the thread to now MPC Comparsion forum!! out of just the 4k forum. Keep it simple. Balanced input have a access from both users it is common sense and there is a reason why tutor open such a forum in the first place. Plenty of the same posts and answers with the comparsion thread it is a no-brainer..

ok captain obvious, thanks for explaining that to me. perhaps the reason i asked was because i don't own a 4k, don't have any reason to visit the 4k forums, and thus, had no idea that this thread originated from that forum!

The message was for the thread originator. If you want to learn about 4k vs 1k, 4k vs 2500, 4k vs 3000 or whatever. You are in the right place here the MPC COMPARSION FORUMS. These kinds of threads belong here cuz everyone`s got an opinion boy you never knew how crazy things got before with such questions and everyone dedicated to one machine getting all twisted up and never even touched the other machine. I would never pop up on the net asking which such I buy without doing my own research myself it is my money?

Anyway it should be obvious that the first thread gives a big chart to check all the features that every mpc ever made has. Simple stuff.

In the future to the pad fella never assume that a post in the right forum message is some bs it is most likely some new loud CAPS newbie posting all over the forums and having his posts moved into the proper ones.
