Ok, so i've been doing my research on mpc's and im going to try and buy a 2000 or 2000xl within the next few weeks, but i want to know everything abotu this before i buy it so i dont end up with equipment and not able to use it for some problem.

So, the question is...when you get a real nice sample track you want to take off a record, do you need anything besides a turntable, mixer and the mpc to capture it? Do you need some sort of recording software or equipment(which i do have access to if need be)

Thanks so much for anyone who can help me out, i have worked previously with cubase and synths and i jsut have soo many ideas running through my head right now i can't wait to get started

i needed some rca adapters or some shit to attach my turntables preamp to the back of the mpc 1000 but no softwares needed u just have to decide how loud u want to record ur sample...if its too loud ur beats gonna come out **** up if its too quiet u can usually NORMALIZE it and make it ok...i dont know about a 2000 or xl tho them things are kinda outdated with a 1000 u can get cf cards everywhere and save to em easy as **** all them drives and floppy disks are not even necessary in 2007 unless u've owned one for a while or just LOVE that sound of the 2000...which to me is nothing to drool over its good at what it does but nothin to freak over

yea, having a 2000xl I would encourage a 1000 just cause its easier to chop on for a newbie. and you can usb data back n forth from mpc to comp/mac, wutever you've got. and Recycle is good to use.

with my 2xl man I had a floppy so I cold only afford to get zips not mcd's, so i dump anything I save to a zip on my pc incase the zips shit out on me.

oh I understand, but you figure that if you buy the mpc, then try and upgrade swith scsi drives, extra zips or cds, if you have something that needs to be fixed, you gotta look at what your going to do with it, the 1000 comes with affects, not as i think, but enough, and the only upgrade you would need is on the ram cause it ships with 16mb, hit up ebay, craigslist, i've seen mpc 1000's go for $600 used, sometimes lower.

Get an MPC 2000xl with the CF card reader. And as MegaTON said you will need connectors for going into the MPC, probably RCA with a adaptor jack to go into the MPC with the RCA from the mixer.

If you can find an MPC 2000 I think people have installed card readers on those, or perhaps that was only the XL's without the card reader already, search....

sorry, i guess it goes better somewhere else, i jsut put it here becasue this is talkign about records, and this was a question abotu how to take a sample from a record to your mpc...it just turned into something more along the liens of shoudl i buy an mpc 2000xl or 1000, which i wouldnt have asked in the first place becasue i dont feel its your decision, but the constructive psotign has been a great help, other forums im on would have one person help or say search and twenty ficve would talk shit...
