MIDI Connections and Hardware Configurations

Hi,

I am trying to connect my Motif-Rack and Edirol M30 (midi controller) to my MPC1000. I want to use my Edirol M30 to trigger the sounds in my Motif-Rack and, of course, record/track those sounds into my MPC1000. Please let me know how to properly configure all internal switching of hardware and midi cabling. Thanks for you help and assistance in advance everyone!

Thanks for responding. Tried your suggestion, and I am still running into issues. The midi keyboard that I own is simply a midi controller. Your setup works (in theory), but it's not practical for my setup. No doubt, I could, and maybe missing something very simple here. However, when using your setup, my midi controller (Edirol M30) definitely transmits midi data, but it doesn't trigger any sounds in the Motif-Rack when its keys are pressed. What am I missing?
