this is probably a stupid question but - if I have a break loaded can I assign the sample to different pads, and set a different start point on each one? I don't want to slice it because I want the sample to play to the end after hitting whichever pad. surely I don't have to make 16 copies of the sample and trim them? or is there a better way?

I'm using a 1000 with JJ.

you could try setting the sample playback to mono, turn q-link to note on and have it adjust sample start. its likely that that won't be precise enough for you, in which case you will need to load copies of the sample and adjust each one individually.

this would be aa great feature for the jj os. it could go under the "16 levels" feature. in addition to 'velocity', 'tune', 'filter', etc... there would be another option called 'sample start'.

it would be great also if that '16 levels' feature also gave you the option to go up to 64 levels if you wanted.

yeah, it definitely would be a good addition - it seems crazy to have to make copies of the sample to do it.

Sound like ya'll should be using reason or FL.
Dunno if the MPC is capable of all that. If it is, 8)

you have 21 minutes of mono sampling time, 12 stereo - it's crazy NOT to make multiple copies of the file

it would be super awesome if you could adjust start points on each pad tho... that would change my work speed dramatically

sure, why not? you never know what somebody might do with it. it would be set at 16 levels by default but if you wanted to crank it up to 64 then you'd have the option. 64 levels would be good for the TUNE option or for the proposed SAMPLE START option if you had a real long sample.

that'd be ill if you could automate sample start and end...maybe even with the sliders.

sounds more like an ableton live feature though. this is a killer thing i'd love to see in JJOS.

to do this i set the vel>sstart in the amp env, then USE 16levels=velocity to acheive the same result, and then tweak the amp env>vel amount to get it where i want it.

you already can, using NOTE ON start/end
