How do I send sounds out mono??????

I don't know I feel like a jerk cuz I'm afraid the answer to my question might be obvious. On the mixer page of the 1000 you can only send sounds out stereo or outs 12, and 34......let's say I have a kick drum and I want to send it out mono to a recorder I can't cuz the mpc splits the drum as stereo!!! I tried panning it all the way to one side....didn't work!!! I don't have that many channels on my recorder and I dont want my kick drum spilt to two channels anyway......So, please tell me I'm doing something wrong I rather feel like an idiot and know how to do it.

time to upgrade. the jj os allows you to send to outs 1, 2, 3, 4, and L and R. it also lets you send to outs 12, 34, or LR

all the options.

I believe the only way you can do this with the Akai O/S is to use the PAN controls in the mixer section to seperate out sounds ( Hard panning left or right - L= odd # outputs - R= even # outputs).
I've no idea how well this works though since I havent used it.

nah unfortunately in the akai os, it's set up so that if you try to route a pad to an out, you only have a choice for 12 or 34 even if you're only dealing with mono samples. kind of silly but that's why we used to do the panning thing that pilchard described.

Does the JJ O/S allow you to convert a stereo sample to two mono ones ?

you can copy the wav and then convert both to mono samples of opposite fields, so yes.

afraid? pilchard...come on. if you're bright enough to suggest the panning thing, you're overqualified for the OS you're currently using. i mean that in a good way - you'll save yourself hours doing stuff that takes you ages comparatively on the akai os.

why would you be scared? there are hundreds of people using the jj os who will attest to its enormous advantage. there is zero reason to be scared of this thing

I didn't know that, that's foul that they'd make it like that.

Both 2k/2kxl do what I described, easily. It should have been like that standard with the 1k seeing as it is more advanced, funkin foul.

lol I'm not really scared I just don't use the 1k very often so I havent got around to upgrading.
It's something I will do eventualy. My 1k is usualy only used for travelling abroad, something I only do once a year so it's like out of sight out of mind.
