Remember back in the days? (Casio, yamaha, dr.rhythm)

My first beat box was rebirth, then the DR 550, then 808. The 60 had everything I wanted and more.

I started on a Roland r70..

nice palet of sounds that i still use today. for the longest time though i was thinkin "why can't i make a beat sound the way i want" then i got into sampling with the Boss Dr202 and that just opened me up to the whole concept.. then of course i naturally transitioned into the best, which is what i am rocking presently, MPC2kxl.

I started with a Boss DR 110 ('87)->Boss DR 550 ('92)->Akai S-01('95 sampled loops)->Akai S-20 ('98 more loops), added a TR 505 ('02) to trigger it (Poor man's MPC)->Roland MC 303 ('04)->MPC 2000XL studio ('04)

2 casio sks and a 4-track. went from that straight to a 2nd hand 2000 so I had a bit of a learning curve.

When I was messing with the tape 8 track and sampler on my Gemini just layering stuff i wanted a MMT8 and a KorgDSS1, thats before the 2000 came out i think, the 3000 was out the question.

with a boss dr770 and a yamaha psr 640, recorded two albums with them joints. peace and love

The DR202 was a tuff machine, very lo-fi sounding but u could make some mf doom type beats with that plus there was really sick filters on that shit and the bass wow.

I read some place that if pete rock were to open a school to teach peeps how to make beats, he'd start them out on a 202.
