insufficant memory error Even Tho i have enough

after im done triming a sample that i cut before hand on my comp to get it to a smaller size i go to save it or convrt button and im getting the insufficant memory error i checked and i have PLENTY of space on my CF so what gives?

what mpc are you using.

RAM memory of mpc is different than storage memory of CF card.

older mpc's can hold up 32MB worth of samples when expanded(16mb stock) newer mp's like 1000 and 2500 are expandable to 128MB. 4000 is 272 MB stock expandable to 512MB

if you dont got 128MB expansion installed, then you can only load up to 16MB worth of samples to your MP, which is only few seconds in stereo, and under a minute in mono I think

once again, CF card memory is not your RAM memory.

ok so what if i deleted all the sounds it came with would that free the WAV room

the operating system of the MPC, takes about 1mb itself. what you gonna delete that too?... you really playing around with fractions here. why not get 128MB expansion ?

and does it matter what KIND of CF you have?

I think you're still a little confused. konc3pt explained it pretty well, but here's a little clarification.

RAM=short term memory, aka what you are doing right now. All the samples you have loaded into the MPC at one time is your RAM. the RAM is cleared out when you turn off your MPC. Things can not be stored permenantly in RAM.

CF=long term memory. You save what is in your RAM to your CF when you are done working, this way you don't loose your data when you power down the MPC.

You could have a 2 GB CF card but you still can't get more than 128MB of samples in your RAM (or 16MB in your case, until you actually upgrade).

to use distortedtekno's analogy...

RAM is your desktop.

CF/HD are your desk drawers.

you can store heaps of stuff in the drawers, but you can only have a certain
amount of stuff on the desktop at any one time. when you get done with whats
on your desktop you better remember to put it back in the drawers.

ya i get all the saving and stuff i just dont get where you buy the 3rd party RAM for the 1000 i went into that post of where it talks about it and i saw stuff that you need certain types of CF cards and if i bought the akai ram...does that work with every MPC including my 1000? and my CF card no matter what brand it is?
