i agree...seems like the easiest way to do it....sad but true...and i'm sure they'll <akai> will fix it one day in an o/s update, but this should've really been figured out in the early stages of product development, dont you think?

It's not a hard concept to grasp but I hear what your trying to do that you just can't - the individual outs are meant for indiviual sounds

The easiest and faster way in my experience to get your tracks in PT is to

go to your track mute screen and solo one track at a time

I use - Midi Beat Clock - PT as the master MPC as the slave

Hit record on PT and the MPC starts playing - it'll start right on beat so you can over dub parts - add filter sweeps - manual panning etc - if you have a kick loop you use your whole song just record a bar's worth and copy and paste to the appropriate parts - it works

That ish sucks...If there's no way to simutaneously record 4 outs (Tracks) at the same time, then I'm gonna have to think twice about the 1K.

^^ i get ya dogz, but hold im still feelin the 1000 for many reasons over others mpc.... just out of curiousity does anyone know if the 4000 or 2000 can go track to track... although i still wouldnt get one cause theres ways around this.. im only concerned with programs where i have kicks and snares together... everything else gets its own program so this wouldnt be a problem.. Btw im feelin the step edit cause its so easy to delete notes and come up with ill drum patterns.. does anyone know how to add notes in step edit, i heard u have to press overdub in step edit and bang it out, how do u use the insert?

I'm with you on that too, I just joined this site cause I'm interested in getting the MPC 1000 but from what I've read, the (4) outputs dont exactly do that ---perse--

so what's the point

The 4000 has a CD burner & MIC input (8) channels of ADAT, which makes it enticing to anty up $2G, but since I have a stable of HARDWARE, DP3/PRO-TOOLS/(2)MACS why pay $2G for a suped up MP.

----sigh---- these companies sure do know how to milk the consumer

you assign outputs to samples, if you want all the samples on one track to go to one output, simply assign them to the out you want. Seriously, an output per track with only 4 tracks is one of the stupidest things I've heard. You get far more flexibility with pad assignments. You can do what you ask with what exists, but you could not do the reverse with what you suggest. Plus, you want to assign like sounds to the same outputs.

AMG you can record 4, actually 6 outputs at the same time if your recorder has that many ins, yall seriously need to spend some quality time with the MPC or with the manual. There is no sense bitching about what you do not fully understand.
