record sample with dvd drive?

i just picked up my 1st mpc (2500) and i desperatley need samples in this thing.

the 2500 that i picked up was used(guitar center), but came with a dvd drive and a 1 gig flash card.

now my question is how can i record samples from a cd to the mpc?according to the manul i'm suppose to press mode and pad 5(record) then choose the CD input. the problem is when i try i only have 3 options; analog, digital, main out. there is no option for CD. what's the deal? is my mpc not reading the cd drive? or am i doing something wrong?

the drive is for loading already cut samples. not recording off. easiest way to do what ya askin is on ya computer, rip the track you want as a .wav file, load it into a program called "audacity" (google it, free download), cut ya sample, save it as a 16 bit .wav file, then hook up ya usb. transfer. done
