My computer with reason and mpd16 or keyboard controller

I have a question about latency. My computer is an Athlon2500+ with 512ram, and a soundblaster soundcard. If I use a keyboard controller with Reason am I going to have bad latency?

If so, will an m-audio soundcard help?

first increase the ram and download asio4all and you should be set.

yeah, asio4all worked for me, I'm on an Athlon XP 2200+ (1.8 ghz) with 512 ram... ULTRA GENERIC SOUNDCARD... I use Reason with padkontrol and i keep latency at minimum.

well, a audio interface will definitively keep your latency below noticeable, and get you better sound quality, but with asio4all you do just fine

Okay, anybody with an S900 or S950 help me out on this one.

I found those programs that lets you transfer samples from your S900 to your computer. If I sample from records into my S900, (my floppy drive doesn't work), then I tweak them a bit, and transfer them to my computer through midi, then I can build my sample library without having my soundcard determine the sound quality. Is this correct thinking?

Then with asio4all, an mpd24, and reason I will have a good hip hop production unit.

nope, midi does not send audio data.
