Bust button

OK, so I have had my MPC2000 for about eight years now and last week the down button out of the four cursor buttons just stopped working.

The other three work fine, but the down one just doesn't respond.

It is still firmly in place and it 'clicks' just the same as the rest when you press it, but has no effect, so i think it is not the button itself but whatever the button presses on to underneath that is ****.

Obviously this means I can do **** all on the machine at the moment as I can barely more around the screen.

Is there anything I can do to sort this out?

I know that sometimes the buttons can sort of become seperated but still work if they are pressing on to the right spot underneath, but this isn't that.

It needs a new screen too, so if both jobs together are going to cost a lot I might just get a replacement MPC, but if it easy enough to get the parts and fix it then I will.

i bought mine like this i had to push the down cursor a certain way or it wouldnt work so i took it apart and the n flipped the whole cursor (its all one piece) and now it works

just be careful taking off the cursor use a little screwdriver or something if you break the tabs on the sides you might be f'd

pressing right enough will get u where u need to be......if u dont want to fix it

OK, so I tried taking the cursor button off and flipping it but it had no effect.

Looks like my machine has had its day.

You cant just keep pressing right and eventually end up at the bottom of the screen, not on the main screen anyway, so I am trapped on the top line.

Unless anyone else has any more ideas I am going to have to reluctantly dump my MPC and start saving for a new one.

The down arrow on my D-Pad started doing this too. What I did was open up the case and use a can of compressed air to clean off the tact switch under the plasitc button. This seemed to help. This is just a temporary fix, whats happening is the tact switch is probabally going out and you will need to eventually replace it. It would require some soldering and the part can be ordered over the internet. Hope this helps.
