I like the korg extreme for the tones. But you can use any keyboard with midi really once you have the right samples

HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR R3

By boxtones Mon Nov 12, 2007 6:32 am
well i just got it and haven't had time to mess with it too much yet but what i have done i like

for basslines i've been using it and layering 2 synth basslines on top of each other and it sounds really good

then the 70's leads and strings sound good too

i'm working on finding a medium between NY hiphop and that old chronic style

you have one or thinkin about getting one?

YEAH, I HAVE A YAMAHA DX100 THAT I USE FOR MY BASSLINES AND MY TALKBOX.

I WANT TO GET A KORG COMPACT SYNTH SO CAN CARRY IT AROUND
BUT CANT DECIDE BETWEEN THE MICRO X OR THE R3

I KNOW THEY ARE WAY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IVE READ BEING THAT THE MICRO X HAS MORE REALISTC SOUNDS
AND THE R3 IS MORE ANALOG SYNTH LIKE SOUNDS

AND YEAH IM GOING FOR MORE OF A EARLY 90'S WESTCOAST SOUND

go try em out

i liked the r3 better cuz i want that fat analog sound and i'm looking more for bass and leads in a synth, plus it looks cooler

i get my other sounds from the samples i use, the r3 is more like the icing on the track for layers

if u get the r3 hit me up

micro x is that joint. are you using the JJ OS to import stuff as audio tracks, or are you just sampling hits and sequencing with the MPC?

I WISH I COULD TRY THEM OUT BUT
THE PROBLEM IS THAT I LIVE IN A TOWN NEXT TO THE BORDER AND THE NEAREST GUITAR CENTER IS LIKE 300 MILES SO IM KINDA STUCK

I BASICALLY HAVE TO GO OFF OF PEOPLES COMMENTS
THATS WHY I WAS ASKING FOR YOUR OPINION
