Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Alright, if it aint broke, don't fix it...that's my first message to everyone here...

...I was having a few file naming problems yesterday so I updated my OS from version 1.11 to 1.14. Now the MPC doesn't recognise the internal 100 Meg Zip drive anymore.

I've been through the searches and notice a few people have had the same problem but the solutions aren' t working for me.

I've tried another zip drive, I've reinstalled the OS (1.14) from a mate's SCSI zip drive, I've changed the jumper settings from Master to Cable Select (Is that Single?)

Don't know what I can do now and I'm gutted...

...My last throw of the dice is if I can get hold of an old operating system 1.11 or 1.12 and reinstall that through my mate's SCSI...I've been on the AKAI pro archives but these OS's aren't there anymore.

Massive respect to any helpers out there....

Aren't we all?

I would help you out if I knew how to, but I don't.
Sorry.

alright tutor! It's like waiting for Batman to arrive.

I only changed it to cable select cos I've tried master already and that didn't work. I was reading through some old posts and someone suggested trying that as an alternative.

...been through your tutorials, top dollar...installed the zip drive perfectly...it was all going smoothly until I updated the OS...

Look for a post from Mpc3000, it was a while back it might be gone now. I believe there was a certain way you had to reinstall your OS though, something like downgrade it then update it to the latest. If you need an old OS PM me I got all that stuff.

thanks mate...unfortunately, MPC3000 has made nearly 1000 posts! any idea what the title was? I've had a look but no joy yet..

the very man! Thanks MPC. I had already tried installing from a SCSI zip drive but still nothing. I think reinstalling the floppy (pain in arse) or moving back to the old OS will be the only way forward.
