Help the new boy out please!

What's the best way to get a loop that does not fit into exact bars to sequence right?

example, loop is 3:3.00 and I want it to sequence to a 4 bar loop.

I have been through the manual over and over again and nothing seem to explain this.

This is probably a real obvious thing so hope some can help.

you seem the naive type, so i'll help you out a little...

Try two different thnings:

1) change the BPM of your track so that it fits the loop you are using

2) go in TRIM mode, select EDIT and use timestretch on your loop so it becomes longer. Fort that to work you will need to know the BPM of the loop, so going through step 1 first will help you a lot.

One remark to conclude: if you went through the manual and didn't find this... were you actually reading the MPC version 2 manual??? I doubt that.

3: Chop the loop, rearrange and program it to fit your desired tempo.

4: tune the loop so it will fit the sequence

do you mean you only have 3 1/2 bars of actual music that you want to sound like 4 bars of music?

..if so you need to chop some sounds to fill up the space... try repeating a couple of beats, or chop up the whole thing and get creative.

or do you mean 4 bars of actual music doesn't fit properly into the 4 bar loop that the mpc is running?

..if so you need to adjust the bpm of the sequence.

Hey mikolo, yeah my loop is a random number of bars/beats. I am going to get busy tonight and try all the techniques. Thanks to you all for the tips :P

I would like to loop at bar 31/2 but can only snap to intreger numbers. Does this mean I should be adjust my bpm and time signature until the loop fits 3 or 4 whole bars? I see the benefits of it forcing me to understand a deeper level of what I am doing but I wish I could snap my loop anywhere I wanted by beats or bars. I must be missing some setting that would allow for that.
