I was used to manuevering around in the 2000xl. I miss 16 pads and the chop sample feature, but I learned to chop everything up in soundforge, but still 16 pads was always better for 4/4 music. I love my mpc 500 though. a lil glitches here and there, but it's great, the portability is the best feature. When I'm not sleepy on my way to work. I make beats during my commute on the train (when i can get a seat)... I make beats during my lunch break at work sometimes. I've made beats on the airplane countless times... I'm about to do a lil movie on the portability of the mpc500 compared to the mpc 2000xl.. it's gonna be funny when I can figure out all 15 locations I want to record myself using the mpc 500.. I hope to have it done by next month.. it will be hiliarious and I'll let u know.. Glad you like the flick!
p.s. I haven't used my 2000xl for a while though. I can't lie i miss it and i might be lost trying to find my way around in it.. lol

u gotta get inputs that go into any headphone jack to go into the ipod that come out to either rca jacks or 1/4inch lines. i got mine for my video ipod from the apple store, it only has rca jacks to put in the mpc (which doesnt fit), so i also had to use rca to 1/4 adapters. look at the pic, u see the white wire get connected with black adapters into the mpc.
u could maybe find both (headphone to rca line, plus rca to 1/4inch adapters) at radio shack, im not sure. but they sell both at a lot of places. try to get good prices though, i spent close to $30 for both together, but after i got them i saw places that had it cheaper.
