its probably obvious to someone, but ive never worked out why when i copy a track from one seq to another - the midi notes get copied but the trackname is never copied, and its killin me,

any ideas around this problem, (i know i can copy a seq's parameters to another - this copies names in all tracks to the destination seq, but wouldnt that overwrite any existing tracknames already there that i need to preserve....not to mention shit loads of other things in there.

cheers

oh hoh yes. this has been something that's bugged me since os 1.07 - names are not copied when a track is copied from seq to seq

here's a report:

"old bug" - track names not copied from seq to seq

1 - load project
2 - move to track 1, seq 1
3 - copy track 1, seq 1, to track 2, seq 1
4 - NOTE: track name is copied.

1 - load project
2 - move to track 1, seq 1
3 - copy track 1, seq 1, to track 1, seq 2
4 - NOTE BUG: track name is not copied. a user must type in the name again.

Copying a track doesnt even give me the option to copy it to another sequence, when copying the events on a track via "seq edit" the track name wont be copied - its not an event.
So this would be a feature request for the track copy, being able to select a different seq.

Note you can copy the name of a track, go to the track name, press window and move the data wheel like if you want to rename the track. Press and hold f5 (c&p), then press f2 (copy). Paste to the new track.

sure thats all true. and one thing i forgot though was that seq edit wouldn't copy track names cos it not an 'event', sadly thats where i do most of my inter-sequence track copies.....

i do c&p a lot in the names field, but thats soo much faffing around innit,

yeah it should be an option in seq edit* - mode "replace/merge" could be "replace&rename/merge&rename" and obviously a track then takes the name from the source where the event data comes.

* in theory there are a few more ways of doing this logically too.

something else that bugs and has since day one. when you make a program out of sliced samples, that pgm becomes the current pgm in use. there have been many times that i take a drum break, chop it up, make a new pgm, lay down drums and THEN... chop a sample, make a new pgm, go to lay down the sample chops, and all the sudden my drum pattern is using sounds from my sample chops because that program became the current in use. just because i make a new pgm doesn't mean that i want that pgm active, esp not replace my drum pgm with the new one. sorry to hijack thread, and i know its no big deal but its been bothering me for a while.

^^^^Just switch to a new track before you slice and chop.
