I already posted this on dface's SP forum but I know there are SP heads here that don't frequent that forum so here we go....

I'm trying to see if the SP can control cv info and other midi control data by assigning a pad along with the slider to the fuction within the rack.

Anyone using an Emu ESI series, Yamaha A series, Akai S3000xl or newer rack sampler sucessfully with their sp.

I'm referring to having the sp control midi functions like: pan, resonance, volume, lfo, various effects...and any other synth like functions that rack samplers have. I'm able to hook up a midi keyboard and get it to control these functions by using midi "thru" on the sampler/keyboard/sp, but I'd like to simplify things by having the sp control these paramaters.

The MPC60 can do it but its way ahead of the SP in midi capability so I wouldn't be surprised if you guys have experienced trouble in the same area.

Lets figure this out. It would be very benificial to those of you who do more than one shots, loops, and LPFs....

not gonna happen. the sp will only work with samplers in a one shot mode. gotta remember its just a drum machine by nature.

So you've tried the SP with sampler other than the S950/Emax?

I'm pretty sure your right though...

What I'm striving for can be done using a midi keyboard on midi through, but having the SP do it means it could be printed straight into seq/song mode, mix change and whatnot....

Anybody else?

Yes. I am actually speaking from experience. The sp sequencer wouldn't record any information like that anyway for playback and it damn sure won't send it. Check the midi note data on the sp1200 forums. I am responsible for making that chart so it is easy to see what note information each pad sends.

I have 2 eps 16's (key and rack). The sp can't send any controller information to them and it doesn't receive it either. For this reason, i slave the eps to the sp and play my motif and microkorg on the eps, with all of this following the sp's clock.

Been there done that, not gonna happen, unfortunately.

And yes I also own an s950. The s950 can actually recieve controller info like pitch bend, etc, note offs, blah blah. But all of these features are useless when used with an sp.

word. I'm on the same page as you. S950 is about as useless as the Emax when only using the Sp. I purchased some new gear with hopes of doing what I listed above but its gonna take a mp to accomplish that.

Check you pm.

When I meant useless, I meant the extra features being useless. In no way do I mean the s950 is useless. Its a key component in my arsenal.

Have you looked into making a preset keygroup disk so that you have all 32 possible locations already made? This makes sample placement super quick and easy.

If you search these forums I've made a few post outlining some general 950 tips/tricks. I'm pretty damn quick on it.

Now my only problem is sourcing a inverter, cuz the light works, but at random times. lol.
