Sometimes, the drum pads register as a double hit.

I just bought a used MPC2000 off of ebay, and tried playing with it a bit. I've noticed that about half the time, a single drum hit will register twice (b-bum instead of bum). Is this normal? If so, is there a way to disable it, or do I have a faulty MPC?

Is it easily fixable if I were to open it?

Now I know why it registers as a double hit when I'm not hitting it a certain way. That's kind of annoying. :/
