Why wont my MPC-1000 play through midi in Reaper?

Currently using Reaper software for recording beats from the MPC as a new method of doing things really. Im using the midi outs into a midi interface transferring through USB into a pc. Any ideas why it isnt showing thats its recieving anything in reaper?
And yes, all my cables and interface are in working order, lol i checked.

you know it won't record the sounds, right? MIDI is merely note data, not audio data.

yeah, but its not registering the midi not data or anything....hmm

have you record armed the track? Also try the monitor button for that track.

and have you selected the midi port as the input for that track? right click on the track's meter, and go to 'midi' then select 'all channels' or any particular channel you want.

ok, here it is step by step, don't skip a step, even if you think you've already done it, double check everything.

1. Connect MIDI out A on MPC to MIDI in on MIDI interface. Connect MIDI interface to computer.

2. Turn on MPC, MIDI interface and open Reaper.

3. Create new track in Reaper.

4. In the mixer in Reaper: right click the VU meter for the track you just created. Move the cursor to 'MIDI Input'. On the box that appears, move your cursor to where it says the name of your MIDI interface. Next: select 'All channels'

5. On the MPC: move the cursor to below (or, on the Akai OS: to the right of) where it says 'MIDI'. Change the value to any of 1-16A.

6. In Reaper: arm the track you created to record by clicking the little 'R' on the track.

7. Hit a pad on the MPC: you should get a little red square light up at the lower right hand corner of the VU meter in Reaper (on the track you created).

That's it! You can now adjust settings to suit your purpose.
