it CAN be synched via mtc....check back a couple posts in this thread.

yup...vsts, vstis, dx...and it comes with a bunch of its own plugins that are actually good...

it still doesn't slave to mtc, which is what i'm waiting on. THAT will be badass.

as punch said it comes with a whole bunch of plugins called the Jesusonic. there are a ton of really cool ones there, and the code is open source so you can actually build your own. a couple users have come up with some really cool stuff in JS, still that hasn't existed before this and at the current rate of development of other daws, stuff that would never have seen the light of day otherwise.

on the reaper forum, i think I cam across someone saying they got it to run on leopard. I also read about a few people running this on linux. Im thinking, why not run this on a version of Ubuntu Studio (both free). That would be interesting, but would pose a problem for Reason Users. Being that im just fooling around with it, I have only tested it with the stock (rubbish) sound card on my laptop (as well as the other rubbish sound cards on the other PC's i have used it on). I will give it a go on a Digi 001 this weekend.

According to the forum, the Pro-Tools sound cards work with Reaper, as well as a bunch of other sound cards.

Im not deep into mixing. I usually use DAW's for tracking and some basic EQ and effects. I tested out Reaper with a Pro Tools session I recorded two years ago.

The original recording was done on a Digi 001 running on a PC with Event TR-8's as my monitors.

I loaded the session into Reaper flat (un-mixed) and began to mix again to see how many tracks it can handle on my laptop. 3 hours later i pretty much remixed the song and got a better mix than the original Pro Tools mix from two years ago!

This is on a Think Pad with the stock headphone outs running into a pair of cheap, bass deprived, $14.99 Sony MDR-V150's!!!!


Im curious to see how things sound coming out of a pair of Tannoy Reveals this weekend.

Yeah. Im running mine off a free 2gig i got from Micro Center. I saved some plugins on there, so in theory i should be able to pick up right where I left off when I go somewhere else.

how are you initiated reaper user hooking your gear up to it? just recording or hooked up with midi. the reason im asking is cuz i keep trying too make my mpc tracks fit as they do on the mpc.but so far synth parts etc. seem to lag behind or start early.and that fade in out thingy aint helping. overall ive got headaches from daws. same thing happend many times on Live. what seem to work fine on the mpc gets out of time in the daw. it might be the "swing" but i dont know.

yeah, the fact that it runs off a usb stick is insane!
not to mention that the reaper installer is only 3MB...

he is a bit of a code celebrity.

i will have to install it on a usb stick. that will be convenient to have a specific, external REAPER drive. load it up with my favorite effects and vstis.

if only i could fit reason onto it as well!

As for Reason, I have an old copy of Reason 1.1. I just checked the size of the install folder in Windows, and its only 1.12 gigs. Thats the entire Propellerhead folder, including a gang of Refills and a few other things. Im gonna try to install it on the jump drive now.
