I'm pretty new to the production world, and right now I have an Akai MPD24 and M-Audio Keystation 49e. I run these into FL Studio 7.

Right now I can't run both controllers at once because I only have USB cables. Could I use the MPD as a MIDI interface and plug the Keystation into that? I think this would allow me to have both setup at once but I'm not sure.

I'm looking to get a recording setup, as well as turntables. I'm thinking I'll get the Digidesign MBox2 (which comes with ProTools). Is it hard to integrate ProTools and FL Studio? Does anyone do this?

I'd like to learn how to scratch and mix, so I'm looking at DJ turntables, probably Numark or Gemini (I don't have a lot of money). What would you suggest? What do I need besides two tables and a mixer? An amp? I'd also like to use these turntables for sampling from records, I figured I'd just run them into the MBox and record stuff. Would this work?

I'm also trying to get a new computer before I go off to college, maybe a Mac. Does anyone know if I'll be able to transfer my FL and ProTools over to the Mac from my PC?

Thanks for any help!

Pro tools in totally compatible from PC and mac. Dunno about FL

Why would u want to combine FL and PT?

yes, table ->mixer->mbox->PT will be fine for sampling

i dont think you can run the keys thru the MPD24 (ive not used one) but im sure u can run 2 controllers at once into FL i used to run a MPD 16 and a Eveolution keyboard.

When I plug in both of my controllers at once, it only reads one of their signals. How do I run two controllers?

I want to combine Pro Tools and FL so I can record vocals. Maybe I can record through my MBox right into FL? Anyone know?

burritoace, if you have a guitar center in your area, here's what I would do. Bring any extra cash in your wallet, and come up to the keyboard dept counter. Talk to a rep, and tell them you want guitar center credit. They will be sorta like a bank, but a bank that gives you no interest. But this way, you "save" up for the gear you want to buy. Whatever you do, don't tell them what you want, until you have the full amount of the item that you want. If you go "Oh I'd love that keyboard for $1299 and you only gave the rep $300, you'd have only one month to come up with the rest!!! But if you just keep bringing them your extra cash, it just stays in their computer. You tell them your name, and they'll tell you how much you've saved up so far. Then eventually, you'll get home something you didn't expect to, because you're low on funds......Good luck!

The MBox is just an interface, it should work with any DAW, so you should be able to set FLP up to work with it. But ProTools is much better DAW than FLP, so why you would want to keep using FLP is something you should ask yourself. FLP does not work in OSX, although you might be able to run it using Parallels or something, just be aware tech support for something like that is pretty much up to you and Google....

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to use two different MIDI controllers at one time, probably you need to look into MIDI over USB settings as plugging in the second controller may be over riding the connection settings by default or just never "announcing" itself....

I just want to keep using FL because I know it better than ProTools and can make beats on it easier than I could on PT, I think. Maybe I'm wrong. Can I do all the things I do in FL in protools?

It would be cool if I could combine beats in FL with recording in PT.

It's it's own VST, but I don't know if PT runs VSTs, and if it doesn't, you might need some sort of way to get them to sync to eachother....I'm even guessing it can't be done, but don't quote me on that. Check out the FL site, and maybe they know...
