Just a little maintenance note...

My 60MK1 behaved funny with blocky screens and going dead. When i hit it a couple of times it came on again. Then dead again.

I have hardly any technical knowledge but opened up the machine anyway because I was desperate. Turned out that the connector that sits inside, to the right under the display, white and with 5 leads coming out of it had oxidated or dusty joints. I took off the connector and scratched the pins/joints a bit with a screw driver (ideally it should use fine sandpaper or so, dunno) and it turned out fine.

I guess I should take my 60 to a service for all the solder joints etc one day. i did it with my 950 once when it started misbehaving and it hasn't let me down since.

hope that helps to anybody else being desperate...

The problem persisted, so I emailed Bruce Forat.
He emailed me straight back, here is his reply:

Unplug the unit from the wall and take the power supply board off then re-solder all the pins on the big white connector (the one with Black, White, Orange, Orange and Purple wires) and that should fix it. Let me know if that does not do it.
Bruce

I did resolder the joints and it has worked flawlessly for the past 10hours or so.

Bruce is a really good guy![/i]

I've had great experiences with both Bruce Forat and Dave from VST in getting support.

Yep! People like that are hard to find and need to receive all respect they can get.
