Woah...wicked news!
how about a manual, JJ! 8)

this is epic, i agree about the discount for OG users

a discount would be nice and i'm not knocking the idea

but i see this 2nd charge as a "renewed subscription." i think i'll be paying the full 39 regardless, cuz i feel seriously indebted. we've watched this come so far...

just hang with me cuz i'm over caffeinated and there's a laugh in it

the paid-for jj os itself is about, what, 1 year old? little more?
i paid 30 bucks for 1 year of service, kind of like national geographic.
now, round 2. national geographic just sent me notice that my subscription is ending and that if i want new magazines of indigenous titties, i must renew my subscription.

all i hope is that i've been a good source of new jj os users through constant recommendation and accurate, positive representation of the features and support. the better this os does and the more 1000/2500s that have the os on it, the better jj does.

If every year we get new stuff to play with, hell yeah I'll pay the extra.

i never event considered that i wouldn't pay for V2.

in all my born days, this has been the best value hack/upgrade/program/effort/feedback/fix/response ive ever seen....esp how the mpc was a major let down when i got it....jj saved it as far as im concerned.

distortedtekno and i were just talking about that.
when i first got it, i was bemused by it because it was on 1.07. no timestretch, no chop, no qreal. it was just a waveform sequencer. really took me back to the basics.

i refused to be disappointed though. after all it was the most expensive thing i'd purchased in my life at the time, my pride and joy. very limited but i made edge city on it and had fun. i guess i needed the "back to the basics" time to go back and learn what i didn't have the experience for. it also helped to think of things in terms of ticks, __ notes, beats and bars. coming from a nonmusical background i got to kind of grow with the mpc as new os's were released for it.

and just when the ceilings of sequencing on jjos1 were starting to feel close to my head (comfortably so), os2 will drop to turn my cabin into a cathedral

Unbelievable. Akai Sucks the Bug Ridden Nuts. But JJ makes being a 1000 owner truly awesome. Wow. I'm going to try it later this afternoon. Unbelievable. Not only friggin' cool in it's own right, the prospects for the future are laid out gloriously into the horizon. Despite what Nym had said, I was dubious that JJ would release two different OS'. Now all bets are OFF. We could all wake up tomorrow morning with new Jenious offerings, making new dimensions of creativity possible with a machine I already know and love...   :D :D :D :D
Also, when i first saw this, I said WTF is ADSR? If you are asking the same question - - - -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K31IXTDHTGg

Check it out. New soundsculpting options.

doh, adsr has been fundamental in electronic sound design since say 1946.!?

For those who aren't experienced much with ADSR and synthesis in general, I highly suggest reading some of Blue Haze's posts in the MPC4000 forum for alot of good tips and tricks. :)

Well, It's really no "doh" to me, I enjoy learning. As opposed to enjoying putting people down for having a limited, but expanding, knowledge base.

soz, not being rude...no fun intended, really.

its just after a while of doing stuff, its nearly impossible not to get involved when something "fundamental" is only just revealed.....[ i bet u have been in this kind of position at least once in your life - and i imagine u behaved similarly]

anyway.....it was intended to be a quick nudge forward, in order that this 'adsr' thing was to be further investigated.

It's no sweat, I just feel like ignorance (especially in these forums, because this is where ignorance comes to die) should be helpfully guided to the right place to breath it's final breath. An attitude of 'Oh, I can't BELIEVE this Newbie doesn't know this or that' just doesn't foster an atmosphere of learning. If you know something I don't, Teach Me. I'm all ears. But enough about that. This thread is a joyous one. BTW Arebee, do you think JJ will deal w/ your track mute issue in the 2nd manifestation?

I can't wait for this.

A - Attack
D - Decay
S - Sustain
R - Release

The contour of the ADSR envelope is specified using four parameters:

Attack
How quickly the sound reaches full volume after the sound is activated (the key is pressed). For most mechanical instruments, this period is virtually instantaneous. However, for some popular synthesized "voices" that don't mimic real instruments, this parameter is slowed down. 'Slow attack' is commonly part of sounds called 'pads'.
Decay
How quickly the sound drops to the sustain level after the initial peak.
Sustain
The "constant" volume that the sound takes after decay until the note is released. Note that this parameter specifies a volume level rather than a time period.
Release
How quickly the sound fades when a note ends (the key is released). Often, this time is very short. An example where the release is longer might be a percussion instrument like a glockenspiel, or a piano with the sustain pedal pressed.
